TP300 Pad Printing Ink

TP300 Is one of the most popular pad printing inks world-wide. Due to its good printability, TP300 makes the process easy for pad printing beginners and helps experienced pad printers in creating fantastic prints.

It is suitible for printing onto wood, coated surfaces, various plastics and even metals. Therefore the applications for ink range TP300 are multifarious: from printing onto promotional products [lighters , pens etc.], printing of industrial articles[housings, mobile phones etc.] to high quality prints on collectors items like minaure models.

When TP300 is processed as a 2-component system, resistances and adhesion are improved.

Features

  • Print on wood, coated surfaces, various plastics and some metals
  • 1 or 2 component system
  • Quick drying
  • Glossy Finnish
  • Good opacity

Technical

APPLICATION
For duroplastics, wood, coated surfaces, various metals, paper, polyamide, polyacetal (post-flaming), pre-treated polyethylene and polypropylene, polycarbonate, polyester, PMMA, polystyrene, polyurethane, rigid PVC, as well as compact discs.

PROPERTIES
Ink type TP 300-R-NT is quick drying and glossy. Opacity and printability are very good. Pad printing inks TP 300-R-NT are suitable for rotary printing.

COLOUR SHADES
The colour shades of the TP 300-R-NT range show heavy metal free pigmentation and correspond to EN 71, part 3, safety of toys, migration of certain elements.

ADJUSTMENT FOR PAD PRINTING
Ink type 300-R-NT is adjusted for printing with 15-30% Additive A. For retardation use TPD. In order to meet higher demands regarding mechanical and chemical resistance as well as adhesion, ink type TP 300-R-NT may also be used as a 2-component printing ink. Mixing ratio pad printing ink TP 300-R-NT: hardener TP 219 is 10:1 parts by weight. Pot life of the mixed ink is approx. 8 hours. After this time adhesion and resistances might be reduced, even if the ink still seems to be liquid and processable.

DRYING
Ink type TP 300-R-NT air dries, i.e. by evaporation of solvents. At room temperature (20-25°C; 68-77°F) drying time is approx. 2-3 minutes. With heat application and air circulation 30-60 seconds. It will take approx. 24 hours to completely cure. If processed as 2-component ink mechanical and chemical resistances will only be achieved after 4-5 days.

CLEANING
For cleaning of stencils and tools thinner VD 40 se suitable.

PACKING
TP 218-NT inks are available in 1 liter cans only.

Hardener
TP 219 is available in 0.5 and 1 liter cans. It can also be obtained in 200 g tubes.

Additives and Hardener

ADDITIVE A
Universal thinner for ”regular” printing jobs. Additve A can be used in all pad
printing inks of Coates Screen.

ADDITIVE B
Quick adjustment of additive A. Additive B is often used on quick running machines.

ADDITIVE C
Extremely quick thinner for very quick printing speeds and quick drying. Additive C
is frequently used with UV-curing pad printing inks.

CAN
Has an especially high solving power. Thus CAN can improve adhesion of pad printing
inks on various plastic materials. Processing of CAN corresponds to Additive A.

TP 262
An especially mild thinner, which will not affect sensitive plastic materials. In combination
with TP 249 it is especially suitable for printing of polystyrene sensitive to tension
cracks. TP 262 is often used as cleaner for misprints.

BGA
Slow thinner or quick retarder. Used for slow printing processes or for printing
quick drying inks such as TP 313.

TPD
Universal retarder, often used in combination with Additive A.

TPV
Mild retarder. Slow adjustment of TP 262.

JD
This retarder with very high dissolving power is especially suitable for four colour
process printing. Addition should only be 5% approx. so that drying is not affected.

LAB-N 111420/VP
Retarder in paste form. With LAB-N 111420/VP inks can be retarded without reducing
viscosity.

TP218 Pad Printing Ink

TP 218 is an excellent choice if printing materials are difficult and resistance values have to be high. In addition to coated surfaces and metals this pad ink is mainly used for duroplastics. TP 218 normally meets resistance demands of the automotive industry and is therefore a popular ink for this application. Other printing jobs with similarly high demands can also be successfully carried out using TP 218.

Features

  • Print on duroplastics, wood & coated surfaces
  • 2 component system
  • High resistance
  • Quick drying
  • Glossy Finnish
  • Good opacity

Technical

APPLICATION
For cellulose acetate, duroplastics, polyamide, polyester, polyacetal (post-treated), pre-treated polyethylene and polypropylene, metals and coated surfaces (also for 2-component systems and powder-coated surfaces).

PROPERTIES
TP 218-NT inks are quick drying, glossy and opaque. They show high mechanical resistance and resistance against many organic solvents, chemicals, diluted alkalines and acids, oils and grease.

COLOUR SHADES
The colour shades of the TP 218-NT range show heavy metal free pigmentation and correspond to EN71, part 3, safety of toys, migration of certain elements.

ADJUSTMENT FOR PAD PRINTING
2-component pad printing inks TP 218-NT are mixed with hardener TP 219 as follows:
4 parts ink : 1 part hardener (parts by weight).
Note: For high-opaque colours the mixing ratio is as follows:
5 parts ink : 1 part hardener TP 219 (parts by weight)

The ink is adjusted to printing consistency by addition of 15-30% Additive A. TPD can be used for retardation.

Pot life of the mixed ink is approx. 8 hours. After this time adhesion and resistance might be reduced, even if the ink still seems to be liquid and processable.

DRYING
IAfter hardener addition 2-component pad printing inks TP 218-NT dry chemically/physically. At roomtemperature (20-25°C; 68-77°F) drying time is approx. 10-15 minutes. With heat application and aircirculation drying time is approx. 1 minute. Using a Leister-blower drying time will only be a few seconds.
Mechanical and chemical resistances are not achieved until the ink is fully cured (approx. 5-6 days).

CLEANING
For cleaning of stencils and tools thinner VD 40 se suitable.

PACKING
TP 218-NT inks are available in 1 liter cans only.

Hardener
TP 219 is available in 0.5 and 1 liter cans. It can also be obtained in 200 g tubes.

TP260 Pad Printing Ink

Ink type TP 260 is processed with hardener TP 219 at a ratio of 2:1. This fact by itself shows how high the cross linkage of the printed ink film is and as a result the chemical resistances are also high. Good adhesion is achieved with TP 260 which also shows very good resistances against organic solvents, acids and alkalies as well as excellent mechanical resistances. Therefore TP 260 is used for printing of plastics and other surfaces when these properties are essential.
